DUNKERQUE-PORT: FIRST SHIP SUCCESSFULLY REFUELLED WITH LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) AT LNG TERMINAL
The day after the first icebreaker tanker docked at the Dunkerque LNG terminal, the station’s staff carried out their first ship refuelling with LNG.
The “Provalys”, with capacity of 153,000 m3, is the first ship to benefit from this refuelling service which Dunkerque LNG has offered since the end of 2017. Refuelled from the stock of LNG in the station’s tanks, the “Provalys” left the port on Monday 29 January 2018.
This new service is thus a valuable addition to the terminal’s offer, and responds to strong market demand.
Commissioned a year ago, the terminal is already developing quickly to meet the needs of its customers and maintain a high level of performance (it handled traffic of 866,000 tonnes of LNG in 2017), and this is why a first modification, designed to provide a “fast” ship refuelling service (8,800 m3 per hour), is currently in progress. This modification, which will be available from the end of 2018, will provide greater flexibility for customers and supplement the terminal’s service offer.
